Terms of Use (BETA)
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Rootspace application and related services (the “Service”), operated by the developer (“we,” “us,” or “our”).
By creating an account or using Rootspace, you agree to these Terms.
If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. Beta Service
Rootspace is a private beta made available for testing and feedback purposes only.
The Service:
May contain bugs, errors, or interruptions
May change at any time
May be discontinued without notice
Is provided “as is” and “as available”
We have no obligation to continue, maintain, or support Rootspace.
You must be at least 13 years old and located in the United States to use Rootspace.
By using the Service, you represent that you meet these requirements.
3. Nature of the Service
Rootspace is a self-discovery journaling tool that:
Prompts users with reflective questions
Allows users to write journal entries
Uses automated technologies (including natural language processing) to identify themes, entities, or subjects
Organizes content into relational structures and visualizations
Automated outputs, summaries, and visualizations are generated by algorithms and may be incomplete, inaccurate, or misinterpreted.
4. Not Medical or Mental Health Advice
Rootspace is intended for informational and personal reflection purposes only.
It is not:
Medical advice
Psychological advice
Therapeutic treatment
A substitute for licensed mental health services
If you are experiencing emotional distress or a mental health crisis, seek assistance from a qualified professional or contact emergency services.
You retain ownership of the journal entries and other content you create within Rootspace (“User Content”).
We do not claim ownership of your User Content.
6. License to Us
By using Rootspace, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual license to:
Host, store, process, and analyze your User Content
Improve Rootspace
Generate statistical insights
We will not sell your personal data.
Analytics and model development use anonymized or aggregated data where reasonably possible.
7. Data Storage & Deletion
User data is stored in encrypted databases.
You may delete your account at any time. Upon deletion, we will delete associated personal data within a reasonable period, subject to backup retention and legal requirements.
Rootspace does not currently provide data export functionality.
8. No Monitoring Obligation
We do not actively monitor journal entries or user content.
We reserve the right (but not the obligation) to remove content or suspend accounts if required by law or necessary to protect the security or integrity of Rootspace.
You are solely responsible for your User Content.
9. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
Use Rootspace for unlawful purposes
Attempt to interfere with system security
Upload malicious code
Impersonate another person
10. Third-Party Services
Rootspace relies on third-party providers for infrastructure and functionality, which may include authentication providers, hosting services, analytics providers, and related technical services.
We are not responsible for third-party services or their independent practices.
11. Disclaimer of Warranties
Rootspace is provided “AS IS” and “AS AVAILABLE.”
We disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including:
Merchantability
Fitness for a particular purpose
Non-infringement
Accuracy or reliability of automated outputs
We do not guarantee uninterrupted, secure, or error-free operation.
12. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law:
We are not liable for:
Indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages
Emotional distress
Loss of data
Loss of goodwill
Our total liability arising from or related to Rootspace will not exceed $100.
13. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims arising out of:
Your use of Rootspace
Your User Content
Your violation of these Terms
14. Arbitration & Class Action Waiver
Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or Rootspace will be resolved through binding arbitration in Arizona under the Federal Arbitration Act.
You waive the right to participate in class actions or class-wide arbitration.
Claims may be brought only on an individual basis.
15. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Arizona, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
16. Modifications
We may update these Terms at any time.
Continued use of Rootspace constitutes acceptance of revised Terms.
17. Termination
We may suspend or terminate access to Rootspace at any time, for any reason, without liability.
